Cosmic Costume Room Debut Party Recap

In case you missed it, on Tuesday we had a party to celebrate the debut of our Cosmic Costume Room.

Pre-party

We teamed up with Future Times‘s DJs C-Rob and Mondo and our friends at Mama Chuy DC and Nothing-in-the-House Baking Co. to provide beats, eats, and sweets in line with our Día de los Muertos theme — it was a hit!

Food and drinks aside, we were able to find all sorts of costumes for customers anxiously awaiting both Halloween and today’s Miss Adams Morgan 2012 pageant. More photos below:

Calaveras borrowed from Mama Chuy DC

Apple-green chile fried pies, tequila-lime tartlets, Mexican chocolate tartlets, polvorones, dulce de leche donuts + more!

Those tequila-lime tartlets were amazing. Seriously.

Flautas, guacamole with cotija cheese, pico de gallo, and salsa verde from Mama Chuy DC

Mama Chuy DC was gracious enough to make some vegan flautas for us, too!

Carmen Miranda-esque

This Carmen Miranda/Chiquita Banana hat has been really popular here. We only have one left! $34.
The dress this customer is wearing is an authentic, custom-made dress made from the annual Carnavale festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. $65.

Popeye and Olive Oyl

Tammy from A Loyal Love took some time out of her busy night to visit us. She and her husband found this AWESOME vintage sailor uniform and dress.

Perfect.

We’re not sure there could’ve been a more perfect Popeye & Olive Oyl costume duo.

Feather mask

In addition to masks of all kinds — masquerade, animal, etc. — we have an arsenal of wigs. That’s right, an arsenal. We’ve been stocking up constantly for all your faux-hair needs: Gangnam Style, Honey Boo Boo Child, Nicki Minaj, Jem and the Holograms, Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Pippi Longstocking, and the list goes on and on. Come visit us!

You could certainly see your skills within the paintings you write. The world hopes for more passionate writers such as you who are not afraid to say how they believe. Always follow your heart.
